Encaustic Medium Paintings

Encaustic is a painting method that uses a mixture of honey bee wax and damar resin to make a medium that is mixed with pigments and painted molten onto a firm surface after which it quickly dries and sets. Each applied layer has to be reheated so that it can adhere properly to the layer beneath it. As well as the medium dictating much of how the end result arises the are also a huge range of techniques that can be applied so that each piece is highly individual.
